A Theatre Opportunity - For youth in grades 4-7. Join in the fun: participate in our April vacation theatre experience. In conjunction with Parks & Recreation, we will be offering a one week (April 16-20, 2007) program where youth will help create, and participate in the creation of scenery and propos in an age appropriate version of a Shakespearean play.
Adventure Program - provides youth with an opportunity to learn and explore their individuality through group process interactions. The focus is on indoor and outdoor activities that enhance problem solving, decision making, peer pressure, healthy choices and team cohesion through safe challenges and supportive group dynamics.
Buddies of Smaller Students (BOSS) - is a program that promotes leadership through having high school students become buddies with elementary school students. The high school students will work one on one with a buddy once a week.
Home Alone - offers an opportunity for Guilford youth, ages 9-11, to address concerns about being home alone in an emergency, as well as exploring ways that they can make themselves feel more comfortable. Discussion includes how to handle emergency situations, prevent accidents, Internet safety, and much more. This two hour interactive course is co-sponsored by Guilford Youth & Family Services and the Guilford Police Department.
Improv Troupe - Students learn to think on their feet, develop verbal and non-verbal communication skills, leadership skills, confidence and a stronger sense of self. High School students create performances for youth and adult audiences that raise awareness of the broad based issues facing teens, families and the community. Elementary and middle school troupes focus on theater games and improv development.
Intergenerational Computer Program - is a community service program that is offered to all Adams students. This program teaches senior citizens the use of the computer and the Internet through an effective mentoring process between youth and seniors.
Students Against Destroying Dreams (SADD) - is a high school age peer leadership club dedicated to prevention of underage drinking, drug use and other behaviors of concern.
Teens Advocating for the Future of Youth (TAFFY) - is an opportunity for high school students to have their voices heard locally and statewide. This group will work to make positive changes in policy and procedures surrounding youth issues.
Youth Board - provides middle and high school students with the opportunity to share concerns and report on relevant events impacting youth to the GY&FS Board.
Youth in Action (YIA) - is a middle school peer leadership club which meets after school and is dedicated to the prevention of drug use, underage drinking and other unhealthy and risky behaviors.
